The Istanbul Education Summit serves as a prominent international platform for exploring future perspectives in education, institutional approaches, and innovative practices. Bringing together participants across the globe, the summit fosters the exchange of experiences, facilitates discussions on educational developments, and provides a comprehensive international outlook on education.

First launched online in 2021 under the theme “New Trends and Transformation in Education,” the summit's second iteration, themed “The Future of Schools: Post-Pandemic Needs of Education,” was held in person in Istanbul. The third edition, titled “Leading the Change in Education,” continued this tradition with a focus on transformative educational leadership.

The fourth Istanbul Education Summit promises dynamic discussions and learning opportunities at multiple levels. This year, the high-level meeting will center on the theme “Education for a Fair and Equitable Society for a Sustainable Future,” featuring the participation of education ministers from various countries. Alongside this, three thematic panels will delve into critical aspects of the main theme, engaging academics and subject matter experts:

  • “Rethinking Relations between State and Education”
  • “Social Justice and Education”
  • “A New Sustainable School Culture”

Additionally, two special sessions will address pivotal topics:

  • “Leading Schools Towards Equity: The Role of Principals in Shaping Fair and Inclusive Education”
  • “Shaping Tomorrow: How Youth Can Drive Equity and Sustainability in Education”

The summit will also showcase “Good Examples in Education” and the 5th International Maarif Photography Contest, featuring contributions from Maarif Schools worldwide.

The Istanbul Education Summit will be graced by the presence of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who will deliver the opening address. Joining him will be the Minister of National Education, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Tekin, and the President of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, Prof. Dr. Birol Akgün, underscoring the event’s significance as a pivotal gathering for shaping the future of global education.
