This year, the 4th Istanbul Education Summit will be held online on December 6-7, 2024, with the theme “Education for a Fair and Equitable Society for a Sustainable Future.”
The Istanbul Education Summit, organized by Turkish Maarif Foundation, is aimed to be a meeting point for institutions and individuals recognized for their international efforts and contributions in the education field; it will take place online this year on December 6-7, 2024, under the theme “Education for a Fair and Equitable Society for a Sustainable Future.” It was held first time online in 2021 with the theme “New Trends and Transformation in Education,” and its second edition with the theme “The Future of Schools: Post-Pandemic Needs of Education” convened face-to-face in Istanbul. The third summit took place face-to-face, titled “Leading the Change in Education.”
The Istanbul Education Summit provides an international platform for discussions on future educational perspectives, institutional approaches, and practices related to education. The summit brings together participants from across the world to share experiences from various countries, allows discussions on developments in education, and presents a remarkable international educational perspective.
There will be opportunities for discussions and learning at different levels during the summit. The summit’s high-level meeting will focus on the topic ‘Education for a Fair and Equitable Society for a Sustainable Future’ with the participation of education ministers from various countries. Additionally, three panels will be held to examine different aspects of the main theme with the academics and subject specialists. The panel topics consist of “Rethinking Relations between State and Education,” “Social Justice and Education,” and “A New Sustainable School Culture.” Furthermore, two special sessions will be named “Leading Schools Towards Equity: The Role of Principals in Shaping Fair and Inclusive Education” and “Shaping Tomorrow: How Youth Can Drive Equity and Sustainability in Education.” The “Good Examples in Education” and the 5th International Maarif Photograph Contest created by Maarif Schools worldwide will be presented during the summit.
The Istanbul Education Summit will be honored by the presence of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who will deliver the opening speech alongside the Minister of National Education, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Tekin, and the President of Turkish Maarif Foundation, Prof. Dr. Birol Akgün.
